TriPerformance is a coach-led accountability app for youth athletes. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the app and our intake process, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you and your family have. It's written to comply with Canada's federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
The short version: we collect what's needed to build your athlete's personalized plan and let their coach verify their progress. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, and proof photos are automatically deleted after 2 days. A parent or guardian must consent before an athlete's account is created. See our Parental Consent page.
Who we are
TriPerformance ("we," "us," "our") operates the TriPerformance app and the marketing/intake site you're reading this on. We're based in Ontario, Canada. If you have questions about this policy or your family's information, contact us at the email listed under Contact us below.
What we collect
We collect information at two points: when a family completes our intake form, and through ongoing use of the app once an account is created.
Intake form
Before an athlete's plan is built, we ask the parent/guardian and athlete for information to design the plan, including:
- Athlete's name, age/grade, and sport
- Training schedule, school/work hours, rest days, and gym access
- 1/3/6/12-month goals, motivation style, current strengths, and biggest challenges
- Preferred daily check-in time
Right now, submitting the intake form opens a pre-filled email from your own device to our coaching staff. It is not automatically stored in our systems. If we later connect the intake form directly to our records (for example, a shared spreadsheet), we'll update this section to reflect that.
The app
Once an account is created, the app collects and stores:
- Account information: name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never see or store your actual password).
- Training data: daily habit activities, completion status, and streaks.
- Proof photos: photos an athlete uploads to verify they completed an activity.
- Goals: the 1/3/6/12-month targets set by the coach and the athlete's progress toward them.
- Coach's check-in notes: short notes a coach records after a call or check-in, visible to the athlete.
- Basic usage/technical data: standard web server logs (e.g., timestamps, browser type) collected automatically by our hosting provider.
Why we collect it
We only use this information for purposes connected to running the coaching program:
- To build and adjust each athlete's personalized daily plan
- To let a coach verify an athlete actually completed their activities
- To track progress toward goals and show it to the athlete and their coach
- To communicate with the family about the account or the program
- To keep the app secure and working properly
We do not use this information for advertising, and we do not sell it to third parties.
AI photo verification
TriPerformance has an optional feature where a proof photo is given a first automated review by an AI model (currently Anthropic's Claude) before a coach makes the final call. When this feature is active for your account:
- The photo and a short description of the activity are sent to Anthropic's API to get a first-pass verdict (approved, rejected, or needs a human look).
- A coach always has the final say and can override any AI decision.
- This processing is subject to Anthropic's own data-handling practices for API usage, which do not include using your data to train their models.
This feature may not be active on your account at all times. Check with your coach if you're unsure whether it's on.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers (sometimes called "processors") to run TriPerformance. They only receive the information needed to provide their service, and they don't use it for their own purposes.
| Provider | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Our database, user authentication, and photo storage |
| Netlify | Hosting for the app and website |
| Anthropic | AI first-pass photo verification (only if that feature is enabled) |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of an athlete, our users, or the public.
How long we keep it
- Proof photos are automatically deleted after 2 days. We keep a record that the activity was submitted and its approval status, but the image itself is cleared.
- Account, training, nutrition, and goal data is kept for as long as the account is active, so the athlete's history and progress remain visible to them and their coach.
- If an account is closed, we retain a limited record for a reasonable period to comply with legal or accounting obligations, then delete it. You can ask us to delete your family's data sooner. See Your rights.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted data storage, role-based access controls so athletes and coaches only see the data they're authorized to see, and secure, hashed password storage. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute protection against every possible threat, but we take reasonable, ongoing steps to protect your family's information and will notify affected users if we become aware of a breach involving personal information.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA, you (or, for an athlete under 18, their parent/guardian) have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you or your athlete
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Withdraw consent for us to continue collecting or using information (which may mean we can no longer provide the service)
- Request deletion of your family's information, subject to any legal retention obligations
- Ask questions about how your information is handled, or file a complaint
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Minors on the platform
TriPerformance is built for youth athletes, and every athlete account is created by a coach; there is no public sign-up. Before an athlete's account is created, a parent or guardian must review and agree to our Parental Consent page, which explains in plain language what information about their child we collect and how it's used, including photo uploads. Parents/guardians can request to see, correct, or delete their child's information at any time.
